In Exodus 1:15, we read about two Hebrew midwives, Shiphrah and Puah. The King of Egypt summoned these Hebrew midwives and gave them the plans to harm God’s people, the Hebrews. “When you help the Hebrew women in the childbirth and observe them on the delivery stool, if it is a boy, kill him; but if it is a girl, let her live.”

The plans of Satan was to raise God’s people against God’s people.

We need to be watchful. It says in Galatians 5:15, “If you keep on biting and devouring each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.”

We need to be careful, for we are not unaware of his schemes.

When we live in the fear of God, we can escape from the schemes of Devil.

As these midwives had the fear of the Lord, so they protected the Baby boy who were born and disobeyed the king. As the bible says, that fear of man will prove to be a snare, accordingly the midwives did not fear the king of Egypt. The midwives said to the king “Hebrew women are not like Egyptian women; they are vigorous and give birth before the midwives arrive.” They protected themselves from bloodshed and doing offense. And because of this God was kind to these midwives. People increased and became even more numerous.

Today the women’s in the church, those who are well versed in the word of the Lord like Priscilla, along with their husbands, should lift the new believers, be kind, helpful and explain to them the way of God more adequately. Because of this, God will do good things in our lives. God’s people will increase and fill the church. God’s Kingdom will be established on earth and His name will be glorified. As the midwives feared the Lord, he gave them families of their own. If we live in the fear of the Lord, then He will bless our families and glorify His name.

Through these midwives many baby boys were saved. Moses, the reason for Israel’s redemption, according to God’s plan was also saved.

Shiphrah and Puah became one of the reasons for the deliverance of the people of Israel.

Moses was born by God’s plan, lived in the palace because of Pharaoh’s daughter. As he was educated in the wisdom of the Egyptian, he became powerful in speech and action. God delivered his people through the hands of Moses. God chose Moses as a good friend. God was with Moses and did mighty works to Glorify His Name.

All this was possible because of midwives. We should also be like midwives, save many more like Moses and deliver the people of God. Through this the Lord will add his people daily to the church. He will bless our families too. He will exalt us in the land and will honour our name. To God be the glory. Amen.
