And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God,
That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
Your young men shall see visions,
Your old men shall dream dreams.
And on My menservants and on My maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days;
And they shall prophesy. Acts: 2:17-18
Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keeps the law, happy is he. Proverbs: 29:18
Vision in simple terms is the ability to see. But these verses are talking about more than just seeing; it talks about prophetic vision and seeing into the future.
Seeing a God-given destiny about certain things or somebody.
If you have been a Christian since your childhood or raised up in a family that is involved in ministry, you must have come across these verses many times.
We have been reading this portion of Scripture and have been proclaiming it as well.
But have we literally seen this come to pass in our times?
In these series of blogs, I would like to share some glimpses of the fulfilment of these Scriptures in my life and in the community I do life with.
Let me tell you beforehand that this is going to be DIVINE. So, brace yourself 😊
I pray that the Holy Spirit will stir your heart with an urge to seek God like never before.
Here’s a story of simple obedience.
When the Lord calls us to do something, He will also give us the grace and favour to accomplish it.
We may have heard people saying where there is vision, there is provision. But have we been able to experience this in our life? I would like to share an example where God literally birthed a massive vision in our heart and established it by making it come to pass.
Everything started when the COVID-19 pandemic started spreading crazily across the globe and it was starting to spread in Mumbai, India. No one was aware of the impact that it would create.
It didn’t take much time for us to realise the severity of the situation. I am not only talking about the pandemic itself but the shadow pandemic as well. Apart from the fear of death and hopelessness in people’s hearts, it was difficult to see people (daily wage earners) starve out of hunger and how these people (migrants) were returning to their hometowns, walking for hundreds of kilometres. It really shattered our hearts to see men crying on TV channels because they were unable to provide for their families and how mothers were dragging children on their luggage bags while the child was sleeping on them.
This truth of people suffering from hunger didn’t allow us to remain quiet and made us restless.
We started receiving calls from the community that we had been working for a while and they were reaching out for basic food needs. We got together as a team. Daniel Quadros, one of my good friends who is closer than a brother and a co-visionary, just became restless and said let’s come together and bless our city of Thane. With faith, we ventured out to buy groceries worth Rs. 5000/-, which would have been enough for 10-12 families for about a month. As we were standing in the queue to buy grains, I got a text message which said that Rs. 50,000/- was credited into my account. I received this money from a person whom I’ve never met before or seen before (he eventually became my good friend and co-visionary).
We understood this was GOD!
Vision births out of a relation with God the Holy Spirit who gives us the glimpse of the heart of Our Father in Heaven.
1 Corinthians 2:10 says But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.
The heart of Our Father in Heaven was to provide for these needy people and the destitute. Psalm 136:25 says that He is the God who provides food for hungry men, women and children and all creatures.
We immediately placed orders for approx. 3 tons of grains and God started opening opportunities to be His hands and feet in our neighbourhood. Here began an adventure that became a movement under the leading of the Holy Spirit. Now, Daniel Quadros has rented a warehouse where he stocks 3-4 tons of grain and provides for orphanages and needy people in our community.
We know this very well now that when God gives us the vision, He also gives the provision.
God created many opportunities for us to become a visible display of His infinite love.
I clearly remember one night we had given groceries to a community of eunuchs and were returning home and suddenly thought of taking a left turn from the highway into a lane that was fully dark. Led by the Holy Spirit, we drove our car and found a group of construction workers living there. We reached out to them and asked how they were doing. We got to know that their contractor had left them all alone before the lockdown began and they (approx. 30+ men) were from a state called Jharkhand and they didn’t have anything to eat for the next day.
God sent us just like the ravens were sent to Elijah at the right time. We told them that God remembered their need and sent us their way. It was a surreal moment for us to pray over them and share the love of God by giving them basic food necessities.
There are several other incidents that happened during this season by being led by the Holy Spirit and following the God-given vision to be His hands and feet.
When the Spirit of God is poured into our hearts and over our lives, we see visions, which enables us to be fruitful and thrive even during the worst times.
