As for us, we have all of these great witnesses who encircle us like clouds.
Hebrews: 12:1
The beginning of a New Era is built on the legacy of our fathers and mothers who have gone before us.
Yes, they have run the race before us and paved a path for us so that we can begin from that place and pave a new path for the next generation to come.
LEGACY means something transmitted by or received from an ancestor or predecessor or from the past.
Indians celebrate the Independence Day on August 15 because of our forefathers like Mahatma Gandhi who have fought for our freedom. They have left this legacy for us. Now, it is up to us if we want to use this freedom to build our nation or bring it back to captivity.
“We are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses”, which simply means we are surrounded by Generals and Legends in the Kingdom of God who have sacrificed their lives and created a huge impact over generations and nations. Our generation stands on the shoulders of our ancestors.
WE STAND ON THE LEGACY OF OUR FATHERS AND MOTHERS IN CHRIST!
A new era gives the next generation the opportunity to march into the unknown and achieve the impossible.
But here’s a beautiful verse that says,
One sows the seed, and another reaps the harvest…… And now you are privileged to profit from their labours and reap the harvest. John: 4:37–38
THIS IS THE PROMISE OF GOD FOR THIS NEW ERA 😊
We are grateful to God for our fathers and mothers who have prayed day and night and laboured day and night so that OUR GENERATION will see the harvest.
WE ARE PRIVELGED TO PROFIT FROM THEIR LABOUR AND REAP THE HARVEST IN THE KINGDOM.
Their efforts, sacrifice and prayers have not gone in vain.
To leave a LEGACY, one must be selfless. And our fathers and mothers have been selfless to see our generation know JESUS.
Recently, we lost a great man of God and general in India whose name is Rev. Patrick Joshua. He was a mighty prayer warrior and the pioneer of the National Prayer Network, India. I have never met him personally but have had the privilege of seeing him pray for our nation and weeping like a child for the people of India to be blessed and to know the truth. That one encounter with him created a huge impact over my life. When he went to be with the Lord, I felt a massive sense of responsibility on the shoulders of our generation. Especially, since he was an intercessor for our nation and raised many intercessors across India, I felt like it was a huge loss for India.
Do we sense the massive need of what is expected of our generation?
It is of course more than the number of likes on our Instagram post and followers on our social media handles.
When Moses was dead, the Lord spoke to Joshua and said “Moses My Servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them-the children of Israel.” (Joshua: 1:1)
Arise – is the word for this NEW ERA.
Arise, shine;
For your light has come!
And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.
Isaiah 60:1
It is not the time to sleep but the time to be WIDE AWAKE. The kingdom of God is advancing, and the lay hold of it. There are so many in our generation who are yet to know Jesus and it is our responsibility to share the love of God with them.
It was in April 2020 there was a sudden burden on my heart. I woke up one morning hearing the voice of God, which said “YOU!!! MOBILIZE THE CHURCH TO PRAY”.
I was so burdened that I couldn’t contain it and called up my friends Sonnah, Daniel N, Daniel Q, Presty, Shalom and couple of others and shared it with them. Immediately, they understood the heart of God and said let’s come together as the Church of India and pray to God to heal our land. That burden birthed out a new prayer movement called ‘The Ascent’. It is a united prayer session that happens every Tuesday, inviting intercessors from all parts of India and globally sometimes. It’s been 4 months now and we have had hundreds of intercessors who have partnered from across the world to pray and intercede and thousands who have been mobilised to pray.
Sonnah Soans is one of the team members and he says that our fathers and mothers have been known for their prayer life, but it is time for OUR GENERTION TO BE KNOWN FOR PRAYER & INTERCESSION.
I pray that as you are reading this blog the Holy Spirit will stir your heart to pray and intercede for our generation and carry on the legacy of our fathers and mothers to spread the love of God.
WE HAVE A LONG WAY TO GO!
BUT OUR EYES ARE ON THE AUTHOR AND PERFECTOR OF OUR FAITH!
Legends may pass by, but the legacy will remain forever.
